Interlaken Post-Fire Restoration Workday

Friday, October 11, 2024 (9:00 AM - 2:30 PM) (MDT)

Description

Help us prevent further erosion in the area affected by the Interlaken Fire in June. We will create barriers with rocks and felled trees to slow the velocity and mass of sediment flowing down drainages into Twin Lakes.

Activity Level: Come prepared to hike 1.5 miles (one way) to the treatment sites carrying tools. Also be prepared to haul rocks and logs on uneven and possibly ash-slick terrain. Volunteer responsibilities can vary depending on ability and comfortability with different tasks, but at the very least this workday will require moderate physical exertion.

What to bring: Bring a lunch, extra water, sunscreen, solid boots and work clothes, gloves, and a hard hat (if you have them- we will bring extras). Wear clothes that can be dirtied by ash!
